Purchasing a drawing

Mostly I want to make my drawings available and affordable. I see my drawings as an enquiry, not a completely perfect thing, but an expression of how I am trying all the time to understand more about the figure and the mood that the model creates.

I try to keep the cost of my drawings accessible. There is an A$10 postage charge to anywhere in the world using standard postage services.

Packaging Details

Most of the drawings are A1 in size and are on acid free Kent or similar weight paper.
Unless otherwise stated the medium is 2B Conte or pastel.
All drawings purchased are signed and also come with a details slip for placing on the back, should you wish to frame the work.
The drawing comes to you with a tissue cover, plastic sleeved, rolled and packaged into an Australia Post cylinder. If the drawing is on card or board it will not be rolled but sent flat.

When the rolled drawing arrives, carefully take from the cylinder. Do not try to back roll to flatten the paper but gently unfurl, keep in its sleeve and lay it on a table face down with tissue underneath and place a newspaper on top. Leave it overnight. Although the drawing is fixed, avoid touching its surface.

If you purchase is on card or Ivory board it is protected, then sandwiched between corrigated cardboard, further card, sealed and posted.

Paper and 'Acid Free'

Most of the paper I purchase comes from a reliable source in Perth and is tested acid free, meaning that it is meant not to 'flock' or 'fox' or get splotches with age. However most papers will deteriorate in constant light, direct light, and particularly in sunlight this will happen fast. Paper fade and shade is a fact of life around drawing. Unless very dramatic, it will not, however detract from the quality of the drawing. This is why great drawings are rarely hung permanently on gallery walls and if they are, it is under controlled lighting.

All of my drawings are fixed and sprayed with an archival quality acid neutralizer.
If you frame your drawing, specify an acid free mount also and make sure you hang it in a quietly lit space.
